Paper Description
As the calendar states, this paper is an introduction to the philosophy of education. It engages with a number of principles, including phenomenology, Romanticism, indigenous metaphysics, German metaphysics, and poststructuralism.
Aims:
The aims of this paper are to develop students’ ability to:
- Understand the nature and role of critical reasoning in its broadest sense
- Apply the method of critical reasoning to a wide range of circumstances
- Consider some of the arguments put forward by educational and general philosophers and theorists
- Identify key strengths and weaknesses in argument.
- Implement the basic tenets of university scholarship, critical reflection and research
